Aquarium wavemakers EP: 7 How to commence a saltwater aquarium

www.bulkreefsupply.com In Today’s episode we are going to examine aquarium wavemakers which includes Tunze, Hydor Koralia and EcoTech Marine Vortech pumps. We will install the Voretcs such as the battery back up system. These very low profile aquarium pumps are actually slick and I enjoy the redundancy the battery backup adds to our technique.

@apgfeb14 because they want whiny bitch like you stop complaining how they cant implement a simple function. just because they put it in there doesnt mean theres always a good point to it. go ask anyone on the forums and 90% will tell you the same thing i said. why im watching this video has nothing to do with you.

@disaster999 If it was pointless, why do they make it, im sure they make random shit, but really? Why comment… if you are so good at keeping your tank PERFECT to point out that, why are you wasting your time to view this…

@disaster999 Hard to really know for sure, wind and other weather related events are what cause the waves. The wind and weather in general tends to be calmer at night because the sun isn’t causing uneven heating of the atmosphere with evaporation, rising and cooling air. This can have a big impact on water movement in shallow areas where many of our corals are commonly found. Less of an impact in deeper waters where water movement is guided by currents more than weather.

im surprised you guys even made a comment on the nightmode in pumps to give the fish a break. does the ocean just turn off its currents at night to give the fish and coral a break? i dont think so

Thanks for posting. I always like your videos. I do have a couple of questions. First, are two pumps required to create the various wave effects? I have a 36″ 57G RR tank where I am running one pump along with my sump output and that seems to be enough flow for my primarily LPS tank. Then on power outages, what options do I have for keeping my heater running? (Other than a large generator.) Thanks!

The cheapest of those wavemakers I saw at my LFS was close to $300. Why does everything cost so much in AU? I need to find a good international online store… any suggestions?

hi there how much is this wave maker i would like to look into that for my pumps and could someone answer cause i have left many comments and no one ever got back to me even in your own site thank you

@sirrealtravelr We try and represent the price bracket without directly saying prices because the video might be up for years. We don’t want to have to reshoot every time there is a manufactures price increase. We did try and explain the pros and cons of the cheapest wrought which is the on off style wave maker. For comparable flow rates the Tunze and Ecotech’s are in a similar price bracket and the Hydor the most affordable but all of the controllable DC powered pumps are not cheap by any means

    Good info!

Normally you all are good at pointing out the pro and cons. I was surprised that you did not state cost as a con when talking about the vortecs. How much are the 2 pump and battery back up? How many gallon can that system handle?

@Teslasdik LOL i live in CT and i know what you mean

I was just thinking about a battery backup the other day, here in Florida our power goes out often. I have a backup on my computer so it would only make since to have one for my tank.
